A new survey has recently revealed interesting information about the global vegetarian population. 4766 people hailing from every continent around the world were surveyed, and the results indicate that the majority of people globally do not follow a vegetarian diet.
Of the total responses, 29% of people said they were vegetarian. Africans reported the highest percentage of vegetarians at 29%, closely followed by Oceanians at 29.2%. South Americans reported 28.2%, North Americans 31%, Europeans 28.5%, and Asians 28.5%. In all continents, the majority of respondents said they were not vegetarian or vegan.
The results of this survey may be surprising to some, as vegetarianism is often seen as a trend in today’s health-focused culture. However, these results indicate that the majority of people around the world still do not adhere to a plant-based diet. It’s worth noting, however, that vegetarianism is becoming increasingly more popular, particularly in Europe and North America.
It is clear that vegetarianism is still not the norm in our global society, but this survey reveals that there are still many individuals who follow a plant-based diet. With more education and awareness, we may soon see more people joining the vegetarian cause.
